Best-selling author John Grisham was recently awarded the first annual Harper Lee Prize for Legal Fiction, a new literary award co-sponsored by The University of Alabama School of Law and the ABA Journal.

Grisham will be presented with the award during a special ceremony September 22 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. for his novel, The Confession.

The novel, published in 2010 is about an innocent man who is arrested for the murder of a high school cheerleader and the extraordinary efforts of his attorney to save him.

The award, named after the author, Harper Lee, of To Kill a Mockingbird, who approved the award, marks the 50th anniversary of the book’s publication.

The book is available from the library in CD-audio electronic-audio, electronic-book and print versions.
